MINDA Industrieanlagen GmbH from Minden/D designed the innovative production plant together with van Roje on two levels due to the limited space available. The CLT panels are manufactured on the lower level and finished on the upper level. Here, they do not only process the surfaces of the CLT elements, but also remove the window and door cut-outs out of the panels. In a downstream process, these cut-outs are fed to the new recycling plant, divided into raw lamellas and then returned to the CLT production process.
This type of recycling is a unique process worldwide.
The panels including the cut-outs leaving the CNC joinery system, are taken over by a shuttle car. A vacuum system takes in the window and door cut-outs and stacks them on top of each other for intermediate storage of the stacks.
At the same time, the vacuum system feeds a vertical band saw, which divides the cut-outs into 20 to 50 mm thick panels. Panel lengths of 500 to 3,500 mm and panel widths of 100 to 250 mm can be produced. These panels are buffered and stacked into small packages. The short panel lengths are then finger-jointed into endless lamellas and the finger joints are cured in a downstream lamella paternoster. After the curing process, the boards are planed, cut to lamellas between 4 and maximum 7 m long and stacked. Double lengths are divided and are also stacked.
The stacks are transported to the lower level via a lifting unit and can be returned to the production process for the manufacture of CLT panels as central layers.
For this purpose, van Roje is currently expanding its certification with the ETA.
The recycled lamellas can also be processed into different variants such as construction beams.
By recycling the window and door cut-outs, van Roje conserves resources by recycling pressed wood and returning it to the production process.
The raw material wood is used efficiently and thus contributes to an increased economic efficiency. With this sustainable production, van Roje not only meets its social responsibility, but also makes its contribution to protecting the natural environment while maintaining economic efficiency.
This recycling line can be added to any existing CLT line, as there are no specific requirements for the cut-outs to be recycled. This line can also process cut-outs into panels in a separate building as a stand-alone system.
